Whether it was to much fun this weekend or your suffering from lack of sleep here are some tips to help you De-Puff  and prettify you complexion!

-For a Quick on the go fix apply a little hydrating toner(Olay has some great types easily available) choose one with not only water, but essential oils and vitamins. This will help you fight the leading cause of puffiness which is your skin being dehydrated!!

-For a little more pampered approach place some spoons in the freezer for three hours. When cold, wash, pat dry, and apply a ultra-moisturizing face cream to your face and throat area. Take the bottom of the spoons and gently glide them around your face. Repeat twice. The coldness will cause the blood vessels tho help with swelling and the moisturizer will combat the dehydration!

Here’s something fun to do with the left over turkey, mix it up and not waste any food.

The best part is it’s quick and you’ll be in and out of the kitchen in nothing!

• 1 cup chicken broth
• 1/2 cup finely chopped onion (1 medium)
• 1/2 cup finely chopped celery (1 stalk)
• 1-1/2 cups loose-pack frozen peas and carrots
• 1-1/2 cups milk
• 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
• 2-3 cups cubed cooked turkey breast
• 1/2 teaspoon dried sage, crushed
• 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
• 1-1/4 cups packaged biscuit mix
• 2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes, crushed

directions

1. In a medium saucepan stir together broth, onion, and celery. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Add peas and carrots; return to boiling.
2. In a small bowl stir together 1 cup of the milk and the flour until smooth; stir into vegetable mixture in saucepan. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Stir in turkey, sage, and pepper. Transfer to a 2-quart casserole.
3. In a small bowl combine biscuit mix, the remaining 1/2 cup milk, and the parsley. Stir with a fork just until moistened. Spoon into 8 mounds on top of the hot turkey mixture in casserole. Bake, uncovered, in a 425 degree F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown. Makes 4 servings.

While the price wasn’t to bad the pulling out of my lashes was defiantly a HUGE problem!!!! After about two days and several lashes lost to clumping or the brush I pitched it!

Holiday Sangria….

With the Holiday party season in full swing instead of bringing a bottle of wine to a party try this Sangria instead. Also a great way to refresh you guests on a budget(Serves 12). That’s right it’s not just a summer  drink!

-1 bottle red wine (try a flavored Arbor Mist cheap and fruity Merlot/Black Berry or Pinot Noir /Mixed Berry)

-1/2 cup Orange Juice

-1/2 cup Pineapple Juice

-1/2 cup Cranberry Juice

-1/3 cup spice rum

-2 Tbsp sugar

-1 sliced Orange

-1 small bag of frozen mixed berries, strawberries, or raspberries

-3 cups sprite or ginger ale

In a pitcher combine wine, fruit juices, spiced rum, orange slices, and stir in sugar till dissolved. Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours. Right before you serve add sprite or ginger ale.  Use the frozen berries as ice cubes and have fun!!!!!!

Kentucky Bourbon Balls…….

- 1 package vanilla wafers or pretzels crushed/ Sara Lee pond cake also works just mix in a food processor!

-1 cup powdered sugar

-1/2 cup chopped nuts

-2 tablespoons cocoa

-2 tablespoons Karo syrup

-1/4 cup bourbon

Mix all the ingredients together,roll into balls, then roll in powder sugar, and refrigerate for about an hour  and get ready for some adult holiday Noms-Noms

The Sissonville Middle School Band will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast @ Applebee’s on Corridor G. The event starts at 8:00am-10:00am, and will have Pancakes, Sausage, and a Beverage. The cost is only $5 and ALL proceeds will go to help the Sissonville Middle School Band!!

“Lend Me A Tenor” – Friday February 10th-Saturday February18th

The Kanawha Players Proudly Presents their rendition of Ken Ludwig’s “Lend Me A Tenor”!!! West Virginia State University NASA Science, Engineering, Mathematics,and Aerospace Academy

SEMAA is taking enrollment for students for the Winter and Spring 2012 sessions. This national innovative project is designed to increase participation and learning for students in the field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.  The program is open to all students grades K-12 and is FREE!!! The sessions will be held on the WVSU campus and will be on Saturday mornings from 9:00am-12:00pm for 7 weeks. The Winter session runs from January 21st-March 3rd and the Spring dates are March 24th-May12th(with April 7th off for Spring Break). All classes are taught by certified teachers and all students are accepted on a first come, first serve basis until the classes are full!!! McGala – Saturday February 11th 2012

Put on your dancing shoes and prepare your magic carpet………..The McGala is back!!!! This year’s Arabian Night themed gala will be in the ballroom of St. George Cathedral and will raise money for The Ronald McDonald House in Kanawha City. This black tie event will be a night filled with fantastic food, live  entertainment, dancing, live and silent auctions, and the most important event of the night a chance to help a wonderful charity right here in our community!!!!
