Oscar Fashion Wrap Up

Filed under : Coach & Maggie

*writer Carrie Keelty is the the voice of fashion reason at Neiman Marcus in Washington, DC. She has appeared on the Coach and Maggie Morning Show before.

Just like Anne Hathaway’s win for best supporting actress, this year’s Oscar fashion was…. underwhelming. I would’ve loved to see more Marchesa (I still have dreams of Rachel McAdams at the Sherlock Holmes premier… yeah, I said it).

Anyway…. here it goes:

Octavia Spencer looked very appropriate in tadashi

Amy Adams- looked so uncomfortable. Beautiful dress, just not for her. Ate her up.

Reese- Missed the mark, even if you did lose a large majority of the baby weight. Ok, I’ll say one nice thing: hair looked great. Just cause its Louis Vuitton, doesn’t mean you look good in cobalt. And spread the love to other designers, I HATE when celebs go head to toe in one house.

Jennifer Lawrence- I wasn’t crazy about this Dior number for her. Loved it on it’s own, however.  She’s young and hot… I would’ve liked to see her in something a little more youthful… BUT loved the hair and makeup and so obsessed with her… I just can’t say anything negative.
Anne Hathaway- Your chest had it’s own twitter account by the end of the evening. Enough said.

Amanda Seyfried- I’ve said it once about Kate Middleton and I’ll say it again about you…. Sarah Burton, you don’t know how to do a woman’s chest the justice it deserves. Other than that… beautiful color, beautiful beading from Alexander McQueen.

Halle Berry… I’m sure this looked WAY better in person. But it reminded me of the silver statues on the streets of New York that remain still until you pay them to dance for you. Dance, Halle. Dance!!!

Favorites: Charlize Theron- Dior  couture, Naomi Watts- Armani Prive (so unexpected for her and simply put- eye candy), Stacy Keelber- Naeem Kahn (and it’s taking a lot for me to say ANYTHING nice about her), Samantha Barks in Valentino. I thought the dress was killer, BUT I have a feeling that if she put her arms to her side like a normal human being, something whack would happened. What’s with the chicken wing pose? I have to say, my ultimate favorite was Jennifer Hudson in Cavalli. It was CLEARLY chilly (don’t act like you didn’t see the “handlers” wearing mink stoles in the background) and girl did good and covered up. Smart chick. Awesome color. Would’ve preferred to see her hair up, so to see more of this fab dress.
And on a final note…. It’s sunny in SoCal… But these ladies need to wipe the snarls of their face.

The camera is ALWAYS watching.
