When the feds rolled out the airport “body scanners”, they made a promise: The images of our naked bodies will never be public. Oops.
U.S. Marshals in a Florida Federal courthouse saved 35,000 images on their scanner. Apparently, the Marshals had improperly, and maybe illegally, saved images of thousands of people… and Gizmodo.com got a hold of some.
Gizmodo did ’eliminate the identifying features’ in the pictures before they posted them.
They said leaking the photographs demonstrates the security limitations of these scanners.
